Leverage (n)

THE
ENGAGED COUNSEL ADVANTAGE

In large law firms, “leverage” refers to the practice of delegating work on a case to more junior attorneys and paralegals. It is one of the primary ways traditional firms generate profit.

The partner you thought you hired is often not the lawyer actually preparing your case. Instead, much of the research, drafting, and strategy development is handled by attorneys you may never meet, even though these stages of litigation are where many cases are won or lost.

The legal industry works much like the restaurant industry: the celebrity chef may bring you in the door, but they are rarely the one behind the grill preparing the meal.

As a result, clients often pay premium Big Law rates for work performed by less experienced lawyers.

Engaged Counsel offers a different model.

When you hire Engaged Counsel, you work directly with Attorney Shorge K. Sato, an Illinois SuperLawyer with more than 15 years of litigation experience. The lawyer you hire is the lawyer doing the work, delivering hands-on litigation strategy and efficient case preparation that can significantly reduce overall legal spend.

Our Fees

Legal disputes require careful preparation, strategic thinking, and experienced advocacy. At Engaged Counsel, clients work directly with attorney Shorge K. Sato, who brings more than 15 years of litigation experience to every matter.

Unlike traditional law firms that rely heavily on teams of junior attorneys, Engaged Counsel provides hands-on representation by the lawyer you hire. This approach allows for efficient case preparation, clear communication, and focused litigation strategy.

Fees are structured transparently so clients understand the cost of representation from the outset. Most litigation matters begin with a retainer deposit, which is applied toward legal services and costs as work progresses.
